NPARC Meeting notes: Monday, January 23, 2017 Time start: 7:30 PM Location: Senior Center/DeCorso Center, East 4th St, New Providence, NJ Attendees: W2PTP,KC2ONL,K2EZR,K2GLS,W2UDT,KC2OSR,K2AL,KC2WUF,K2UI.KD2EKN,KC2MTN,K2YG,KB2FCV 1. We welcomed Phil, KC2ONL as a new member to the club. And KC2MTN renewed his club membership for 2017. 2. W2PTP discussed progress on the NPARC Auction: A. K2AL to manage publicity. KD2EKN will send K2AL auction email list. B. K2AL to review auction flyer and make sure W2UDT is sent the flyer to bring to his meetings. B. Several volunteered for auction setup/teardown. C. K2JV will print tickets and stickers. 3. W2PTP discussed short summary of latest Executive Office Meeting initiatives to the club members: A. Club finances- we are "solvent" per K2YG FY16 financial report. B. K2GLS and KC2WUF will work on club website to facilitate ease of editing and updating. C. Sparkgaps: Want to incease contributions from all club members for articles of interest. K2AL volunteered to submit a contest column, W2PTP president column, etc. K2UI was asked to continue submitting his technical articles. D. Membership: Goal is to increase membership and encourage inactive or past members to rejoin. Part of stimulous is to determine what is of interest to the membership in regard to projects and meeting topics. 4. Sam, KC2OSR discussed his issues with bureaucracy with local schools regarding initiating interest in ham radio. 5. Bill, W2UDT, gave summary of the recent ARRL Board Meeting: A. Bill, W2UDT, discussed progress on Bill HR55 Amateur Radio Parity Act (formerly 3905). The bill passed the House. Apparently a massive letter campaign by nearly 5000 ARRL Southeast Division hams has persuaded the senator who blocked the bill last year to reconsider his negative stance on the bill. B. W2UDT discussed an newly instituted option for inexpensively mailing QSL cards via the Bureau as a member of an ARRL affiliated club (which NPARC is). C. ARRL/LOTW is working with the JARL to include awards and LOTW V2.3 will be available in all major languages to facilitate use by DX stations. As yet, the only CQ awards on LOTW are the WPX awards. Rest of meeting was spent ragchewing, drinking coffee and enjoying Norma Cohen's delicious chocolate chip cookies. Meeting was over by 9 PM Al Hanzl K2AL Secretary, NPARC
